South Canterbury Cricket Green LogoThe South Canterbury Rep Yr 7 XI travelled to Christchurch to take on their Christchurch Metro counterparts on Sunday and faced faster bowling than they were used to and a strong Metro team.

Batting first South Canterbury lost their first two wickets without troubling the scoreboard but then managed to put some runs on the board batting through to the 31st over with Jarrod Phillips top scoring with 30 and Caleb Small giving good support making 13. South Canterbury finished with 87.

In reply Metro batted 35 overs on their way to a win scoring 125 but for a while battled as South Canterbury had them 84-6 so they were competitive with Alex Power and Hayden Kerr picking up a couple of wickets each.

This weekend they take on Mid Canterbury in Ashburton and will be looking to change the results and be the team that goes home with ther biggest smiles.
