It is with deep sadness that South Canterbury Cricket acknowledges the passing of Geoff Talbot on Thursday this week.
Geoff umpired for many years at senior and Hawke Cup level locally and was still umpiring senior matches in the 2012-2013 season. He was a good enough level to be given the Australian Umpire Exchange with Victoria in 1994.
In more years Geoff could be seen sneaking away from his bowls to watch any Hawke Cup matches that were on and was always keen for a yarn.
Many administrators and players will remember Geoff too not for milestones or records on the field, but for his ability to make food disappear.
We pass our deepest condolences on to his family at this time and you can feel assured that Geoff left his mark in the South Canterbury cricketing community too.
