Guest Speakers, Canterbury Wizards Ben McCord and Willie Lonsdale
While the number of senior club players and representative players at the South Canterbury Cricket Association end of season prizegiving was disappointing, the heart of cricket in the region is alive and well with a good turnout of youth cricketers, their families and supporters taking advantage of the 6.00pm start to the evening.
The guest speakers were current Canterbury Wizard players Willie Lonsdale and the Timaru born and bred Ben McCord who responded to the questions from MC Julian Blanchard with increasing confidence, and with plenty of questions from the audience, made sure that people learnt a lot more about what ‘really happens’ behind the scenes in the lives of professional cricketers.
