Otago Cricket is one of New Zealand’s six Major Associations with responsibility for the delivery of cricket opportunities and experiences to over 10,000 players across the greater Otago and Southland region.  Our junior and youth programme delivery is closely aligned to the NZ Cricket community plan.  We have a total commitment to the growth and enjoyment of players and coaches in schools and clubs.

The part time (0.75) contracted Cricket Development Officer (CDO) will play a vital role within Otago Cricket, delivering school and community based programmes across Central Otago.   The workload of the CDO is varied.  You will be working with a mix of different people and situations.  Each day you will be faced with the challenge of utilising your coaching, planning and motivation skills to enthuse and encourage young players to maintain their involvement in the great game of cricket.

This is an outstanding opportunity for you to apply your experience and skills in a cricket specific environment.  You will report directly to the Development Manager.

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Able to demonstrate sound coaching knowledge and experience
  • Empathetic towards the needs of young people 5 – 18 years
  • Able to demonstrate excellent presentation skills
  • Be willing and able to deliver NZC coach education to new and upskilling coaches
  • An effective communicator
  • Well planned, focused and computer literate (sound administration skills)
  • Able to deliver high standards of quality customer service

The successful applicant will be offered an initial 24 month fixed term contract with hours of employment expected to average 20 hours from 1 April to 30 September and a minimum of 40 hours from 1 October to 31 March.  This is a very unique yet exciting role where you will work for an organisation dedicated to assisting your personal growth.
