Glenn Matthews, the South Canterbury opening bowler and all rounder has been named in the Canterbury A side for two 20/20 matches to be played at Mainpower Oval in Rangiora on 16 December.
Glenn will be hoping he is well recovered from the injury he sustained when playing in the Hawke Cup match against North Otago two weekends ago.
South Canterbury wish him all the best, and who knows what a good performance might lead to further down the track.

South Canterbury’s premier fast bowler has got a surprise elevation to play for a Canterbury A side next week.
Celtic speedster Glenn Matthews is slowly coming to terms with the callup, especially since he was away when Canterbury selector Stu McCullum was in town.
“The Canterbury selector came down a couple of weeks ago when we (Celtic) played Temuka, but I was away at a wedding.”
The 27-year-old was putting the finishing touches on his return to full fitness following a hamstring injury he picked up while playing for South Canterbury two weeks ago.
He bowled in the practice nets last night, and vowed he would be ready for the promotion.
Matthews has the reputation of being the fastest bowler in South Canterbury cricket.
He will have to use all his tricks when he plays two Twenty20 games against an Otago A team, at Rangiora’s MainPower Oval, on Thursday.
The former Marlborough representative said he was pleased with his form this season.
“It’s been going pretty well – had a bit of a slump in the middle there, but hopefully we’ll keep improving.”
While Matthews is still waiting for his first five-wicket bag in club cricket this season, he has been picking up wickets at regular intervals, while also being economical.
A plumber by trade, Matthews said he still had a few years left in his representative career, which had spanned 14 years.
He said the batsman-friendly format of Twenty20 cricket still offered rewards to bowlers who were able to create pressure.
“I like it. It only takes one good over and you’re on top of (the batsmen), so you get rewarded in that way.”
