The South Canterbury Primary Development team took on Christchurch Metro on Sunday in Christchurch.

Metro won the toss and chose to bat first and made there way through to 30 before an excellent caught behind by Hamish Booth gave Todd Phillips the first wicket.

Metro continued to run well between the wickets to get to 108 for 2 after 23 overs. South Canterbury kept the pressure on and wickets began to fall steadily to keep Metro to 186 for 8 after 40 overs.

All the bowlers bowled well with Todd, Ed Heenan, Callum Crawford, Daniel Goodwin and Charlie Martin each getting a wicket. 3 run outs came as a result of a good fielding effort.

South Canterbury’s turn to bat and runs proved hard to get against some fast and accurate bowling with us crawling to 29 for 4 off 20 overs. South Canterbury pushed on after drinks with Todd 24 the main contributor  Cullen Towler showed great determination to get to 9 before being hit on the elbow and retiring.

South Canterbury were eventually bowled out with 1 ball left to go in their 40 overs for 74.
