The two day Hawke Cup battle with North Otago was a battle both on and off the field due to the weather over two days.

After being asked to bowl first the bowlers can walk away with heads held high with Shaun Rooney taking 4-40 and 3-34 on debut.

However the batting was another story and while fellow debutant Henry Race only scored 16 and 1no, his 16 was third top score in the first innings.

SC were in trouble at 55-6 overnight after North Otago scored 156 and had hopes that the long tail would get them close but it didn’t play out that way.
Battling to combat the swinging ball SC were all out for 95, and ended up having to bat to save the game and avoid an outright late into Sunday night. Its easiest to describe by looking at the scoresheets below.
