South Canterbury finished off a great South Island Primary Schools tournament with a resounding victory over Dunedin to finish 3rd from 14 teams in Oamaru this last week.

On the Thursday they lost in a very competitive match to eventual winners CJCA Red, but in their final match today (Friday) they dismissed Dunedin for 118 and then chased down the required runs in the 29th over (40 over match) for the loss of only 3 wickets.

Full Scorecard

All the players had turns at stepping up and providing good performances, and comments from umpires suggested we had one of the best all round fielding and bowling sides, something all the boys should be proud of.

Captain Henry Scott finished 6th in the batting stats with 166 runs at an average of 41.5, impressive considering 6 matches of the 8 were T20. Not far behind him in 15th was Oliver Linton with 133 runs at 44.33 average.

In the Bowlers table George Powell finished 4th with 11 wickets at 11.55 average while Luke Slee finished 8th from only 6 matches with 10 wickets at an average of 6.00 and also made the CricHQ dream team as an opening bowler.

Well done to coach Jaime Linton and manager Mark Slee for running a great campaign that I’m sure the boys will remember for the rest of their lives.
