Game Three:

Harry Millar

Harry Millar 57 not out

South Canterbury restricted the West Coast/Buller/Chch Metro Combined side to 79 in Friday’s one day match after Glen Drake this time led the way by taking 5-13 from 5.4 overs after earlier catching the opening batsmen off Ben Watson’s bowling and creating a run out as well.  Josh Dick with 2-17, Ben Watson 1-7 and Ben Simpson 1-2 were the other successful bowlers.

The run chase didn’t start well with the first wicket falling at six, but today was opener Harry Millar’s day as he raced to and unbeaten 57 off only 42 balls despite losing four partners along the way as South Canterbury reached 80-4 to win the match.

 Game Two:

South Canterbury’s nemesis (Mid Canterbury) came back to haunt them today in a 50 over match.

Mid Canterbury won the toss and asked South Canterbury to bat first and the best partnership of 27 for the 2nd wicket meant it was hard to set a tough total. Glen Drake again top-scored for his team with 34 and Harry Millar next best with 17 but SC were all out for 142 in the 45th over.

In reply Nathan McNicol made early breakthroughs to have Mid Canterbury 37-4, but then a couple of good partnerships got Mid Cant back into the game to be 107-5, when a mini breakthrough saw South Canterbury still in with a chance as Mid Cant slipped to 117-7 but this pair then got them home in the 45th over.

Unfortunately the scoring system broke down in Christchurch when the match was at 125-7, so the scoresheet below does not show the full 2nd innings.
