The South Canterbury U18 team had a confidence building win over Canterbury Country after batting first and scoring 290 runs from their allotted 50 overs.

Glen Drake anchored the innings with 73 not out after openers Ben Simpson with 37 and Harry Millar 41 got the team off to a great start and Michael Hogan with 39 contributed to a 78 run partnership with Drake for the 6th wicket.

In reply Canterbury country were soon in trouble as opening bowlers Nathan McNicol and Levi McCoy removed the first three batsmen before a solid recovery by the middle order got Country back into the match, but a great spell by Josh Dick with 3-43 and then an inspired bowling change to bring Ben Simpson into the attack to take 3-28 helped mop up the tail and Country were dismissed for 203 in the 41st over to give South Canterbury a resounding 87 run win.
