The South Canterbury YR 9 team fielded first on a very hot day at the Lincoln Domain against Canterbury Country and the boys (and adults) found it was very tiring, especially alongside a slow outfield.
Jack Hyde for Canterbury Country was their standout batter hitting the ball hard and high before being dismissed for 50.
Bowling for SC Josh Mehrtens had a good second spell mopping up the tail to finish with 4-34.
Matt Mckenzie provided the backbone to the SC innings playing a very mature and patient innings on his way to 43. Steve Phillips batted solidly too for 22 until he mistimed one.
Unfortunately for SC, a lack of substantial partnerships meant the innings only stuttered along.
