The South Canterbury Primary development cricket team have just competed in the tournament at Mandeville finishing in the top half of the competition with 2 wins and 2 losses with one of the losses coming in the second last over!

First up was Chch Metro Fleming which went down too the wire resulting in a narrow loss.  SC made 172 in their 40 overs and very nearly defended it.  Tuesday saw SC play Canterbury Country with a convincing win.  SC batted first and made 169 and bowled CC out for 90.  Wednesday SC played Chch Metro Hadlee and bowled well to limit them to 169 after 40 overs but unfortunately the SC chase never got going resulting in a heavy loss.

The boys were determined to finish on a good note on Thursday against ChCh Metro McMillan and made 125 batting first and followed up with some outstanding bowling and catching which saw them dismiss ChCh for 65.

The boys were well lead by Captain Hamish McLeod who was the standout batsmen with 1 fifty and a near miss 48. Others to contribute with the bat were Logan Sowden, Jock Rollinson and Ben Johnston.  The bowlers all had their moments during the week. As a result they were successful in bowling out every team and therefore taking 40 wickets over the week.  George Kerr took 11 wickets, Ryan Leith 6, Patrick Goodwin and Ngakau Knowler 5 each and Sam Morrison with 4.

A huge thank you for the parent support and help with lunches, laundry and scoring throughout the week which contributed towards a very enjoyable tournament week.
