South Canterbury Cricket Association is looking to promote the female game in the district by creating a modified competition for all interested females to play.

The competition will be called “Women’s Quick Smash”. It will played on Monday nights starting on the 6th November from 5.30-7pm (90 mins only).

It will be played with an “incrediball” which while still solid is nowhere near as hard as a cricket ball, thus eliminating the need to wear pads, helmets gloves etc.

  • Teams will be 8-a-side, and everybody will bat for the same amount of time (3 overs per pair).
  • If you get out you keep on batting, you just lose some runs off your total.
  • It will be 12 overs per side, with bowlers bowling from one end only.

There is no cost to enter and it is open to all females from primary through to adults. Schools are encouraged to enter teams and clubs as well.

If you can make up a team you can enter by ringing South Canterbury Cricket or emailing Shane Gilkison or Mark Medlicott.

Alternatively if you are an individual who is keen to take part, then get in touch and we will make sure you are allocated a team in which to play.

At this stage, depending on numbers we plan to have 6 rounds prior to Xmas (Nov-Dec) and 6 rounds after Xmas (Feb-March).

More information will be sent out nearer to the start.

Please get in touch if you would like to participate or with any questions.
